Susan G Komen Walk

Today was the Susan G. Komen Walk in Louisville, and some of my friends and family walked with me.  It could not have been a more perfectly beautiful day, sunny skies and cool temperatures.  This first picture is of my daughter, granddaughter and me.  DGD Lily was really enjoying the excitement all around.  When we signed up for the walk, it asked if we were survivors or not, so I said that I was.  I had no idea that I would get a special shirt, hat, and bag full of goodies.   I was actually a little uncomfortable there because they were treating us survivors as heros, and I just think that I am very lucky.

This is a picture of me, DD, DGD, and our good friends Craig and Peggy Sue.  They have been always there for me during all of my procedures.  Really good friends.   Somehow I did not get a picture of me and my boss and co worker who were also there.  My boss lost his mom to breast cancer in 2004.  He and his wife and three daughters have walked every year since then.  My boss has been incredible about my having to take time off.  He is really a good man.  I will ask him to give me his picture of the two of us and I will post it this week.

I am getting very excited about my upcoming vacation.  We leave next Friday with our friends for Asheville NC. Right now, I am a little sad/angry because my DH doesn't think he can come.  He was not at the walk today because he had to work, and he thinks he won't be able to take his vacation.  I  hope he can, but probably not.  Anyhow, we(our group of friends) will stay in a cabin up in the mountains near Asheville until the following Tuesday.  After that, I go to Myrtle Beach to the PALS Retreat.

I have all of my exchange pieces stitched, but I still have to "finish" one of the pieces.  I have taken pictures of the completed ones, and will post them when I get back.

Thank you for visiting my blog, and I really appreciate the comments you leave.   Until next time, have a happy,  healthy, stitchy time!

In my opinion you and everyone else who survives this dreadful disease is a hero. It looks like you had a great day and Lilly is just way too cute. Looking forward to seeing you again in MB.

What a beautiful day..it sure was gorgeous yesterday here too! You keep on walking Beth every year another feather in you cap :) This dreaded disease touches every family I believe - we lost my Aunt Sarah at the age of 51.

Have a good, safe vacation and then have a stitchin' good time at PALS!

Congrats on your walk! Have fun on your vacation, and be sure to check out the River Walk in Ashville if you have time. (http://www.riverartsdistrict.com/) We were close yesterday, and the colors should be in full peak next week.
Look forward to seeing you soon!

Sounds like it was a truely special day - and it should. I am sorry to hear that your DH was not able to be there and (might) not be able to go on the upcoming trip. I know it is not by choice. There have been many things lately in my life that my DH and I have not be able to do together since we have purchased a business. It saddens me when I have to attend many hockey events without him - it is fun to have that special time with my son(s) but I do miss my DH, my best friend, to share the memories.
Take care

Hi Beth! First visit to your blog, but am going to be a follower in just a minute! I wanted to say I know EXACTLY what you mean about the feeling of being a 'hero' at the Susan G. Komen walk. I went to my first one as a survivor two years ago, and I felt so weird... I am just happy to be alive! I am also going to MB, so I will look for you! (got to finish a few things this week!!!) Hugs!

You had a lovely day there for your walk! Ours just keeps getting bigger every year. I hope that someday we won't have to make that walk because they will have found a cure.
